Women and their role in sustainable development, theme of the UN Conference to be held in Rio in 2012
Women suffer the burden of energy poverty

The role of women as key actors in sustainable development has been widely emphasized by civil society and international organizations. However, there is still a long road to achieve the full participation of women in decision making regarding sustainable development processes. To this topic, the CSW hosted an interactive panel discussion under the title “Emerging issues, trends and new approaches to issues affecting the situation of women or equality between women and men”.

The evidence of change in Africa
The room was fully booked

Following the main theme of the 55th edition of the CSW: access of women and girls to science and technology, UNDP, UN Women and UNCDF have held an event under the title "Education, Science, Technology and the Empowerment of Women: Emerging Evidence of Change from Africa". The panel was organized in partnership with governments and CSOs such as the Kuwa Ajabu Foundation from South Africa and MEMPROW from Uganda.
